We can sum up all egalitarianism, whether its to equalize everyone’s outcomes (equity), recognition, opportunities, possessions, or any other external result, in just two words:
Forced conformity.
Egalitarianism is the government forcing everyone, without their consent, to never have different kinds or amounts of the external result that they demand should be equal.
Egalitarianism forces everyone to conform all of their desires, abilities, choices, possessions, conditions, and situations to each other, at gunpoint.
Whether it’s demands for “equal pay for equal work”, wealth redistribution, or for policies that aim at making any outcome more equal or ‘proportionate’, it is all coercive conformity and unjust.
It all violates everyone’s right to liberty and private ownership because each person’s desires, abilities, choices, and conditions are unique, making everyone’s set of outcomes, recognitions, opportunities, resources, possessions and every other external result naturally unique and diverse in amount and type.
To force everyone to equalize any external result takes away all liberty to act, value, and do whatever they wish to whatever possessions they have or can acquire.
It makes it impossible for anyone to produce anything or fulfill any desire, which would kill everyone.
So not only is egalitarianism unjust, it’s deadly.
Many derive egalitarian ideals from the belief that all people are created equal, but that doesn’t and should not mean everyone should be equal in every way.
The more accurate belief, and likely the intention of the original belief, is that all people are created unique and infinitely valuable, making all just law apply to everyone impartially.
Many disastrous and unjust forced equalization polices could have been avoided with that correction.
So not only is egalitarianism unjust and deadly, it likely came from a misunderstanding.
That’s egalitarianism in one lesson.
